In response to the publication of our Election Commission Cyber Hygiene report, there has been criticism for both the intent and the content of the report from a number of Secretaries of State (SOS), Election Commission directors, and one Deputy State Attorney General.

Both our intentions and the content of the report itself have been misunderstood. There is no question that commissions and states recognize the criticality of their infrastructure. The insight that is missing in reported self-analysis of election systems is the broader view of internal election systems – that’s the view that the hacker sees.
