Sub-Processor

A sub-processor is a vendor that processes data on behalf of a data processor, the processor's own vendor. The term is widely used in software-as-a-service (SaaS) and cloud contexts. Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and similar regulations, organizations are responsible for ensuring their sub-processors comply with applicable data protection requirements. Equivalent to a fourth party in a data processing context.
