Risk and Reels Goes Live – Hear From Jeffrey Wheatman on Starting a Podcast
Written by: Black Kite
I like to talk.
I like to hear myself talk.
I like to hear myself talk to people.
I like to hear myself talk to people about cybersecurity.
I like to hear myself talk to people smarter than I am about cybersecurity.
I like to hear myself talk to people smarter and more knowledgeable than I am about cybersecurity.
I also like movies.
I have a lot of friends, colleagues, co-workers (present and past), and people that find me mildly entertaining to be around … all of whom are smarter and more knowledgeable than I am about cybersecurity and who also like movies.
I’ve been told I have a face for radio.
I’ve been told I am occasionally funny and entertaining.
I’ve been told I am good at making people feel comfortable.
About a month ago I awoke at 2:37 AM with a eureka moment. And no … I don’t sleep in the bathtub. What if I found a platform, called my friends, and recorded us talking … about cybersecurity AND movies. And thus, ‘Risk and Reels’ was born.
I listen to a fair number of podcasts and find a lot of them to be overly structured. The host asks a question and waits for the answer. They then ask another question – lather rinse and repeat. ‘Risk and Reels’ is, let us say, not that.
I’ve been around Cybersecurity for a long time, and I’ve seen and heard a lot. I’ve spoken to thousands of people, and presented to tens of thousands of people all over the globe. I suppose it’s not unfair to say I may have gotten a little jaded, but I am really jazzed about this!
Join us for some fun, some education, some guidance, and … well that’s it. Plus, I have a cool new studio mic!
