Black Kite – Trademark & Attribution Guidelines
Black Kite Trademark & Attribution guidelines are the set of rules and requirements that a Black Kite partner must follow when using Black Kite data, ratings, findings, intelligence, etc. within their products or services, unless set forth otherwise in their agreement with Black Kite, or otherwise expressly agreed by Black Kite in writing. These guidelines ensure transparency and a clear, visible acknowledgment of Black Kite’s data, ratings, findings, intelligence, etc. in connection with a partner’s use in connection with a partner’s given product or service.
Black Kite Partner Attribution Requirements are as follows:
- When a rating (Cyber Rating, Compliance, RSI, DBI, FAIR, Focus Tags, & Company Card) is used within a partner product or service as a stand alone rating, then the Black Kite API delivered widgets must be used.
- Black Kite Widget API is documented in these locations:
- Widgets must be hyperlinked to www.blackkite.com/poweredby for web displays
- When a rating (Cyber Rating, Compliance, RSI, DBI, FAIR, Focus Tags, & Company Card) is used within a partner’s product or service within the context of partner’s user interface component, derivative of partner’s user interface component, or as part of a derivative rating, then “Powered by Black Kite” text or logo must be displayed either directly or in a hover over
- “Powered by Black Kite” must be hyperlinked to www.blackkite.com/poweredby for web displays
- Icon is displayed below
- When a “Finding” is used, then it must be called “Black Kite Findings”
- Black Kite Findings are observed failures or faults found in over 300 controls that are continuously monitored for third parties add to the Black Kite product and are accessed through the Black Kite Findings API
- When a “FocusTag” is used, then it must be called “Black Kite FocusTag™”
- FocusTags are labels that are developed by the Black Kite Research Team and added to specific third parties monitored by Black Kite to indicate a variety of conditions including data breaches, known exploited vulnerabilities, high profile cyber events, etc.
- When “Ransomware Susceptibility Index” is used then it must be displayed with the registered trademark symbol: Ransomware Susceptibility Index ®
- When abbreviated “RSI” is used then it must be displayed with the a trademark symbol: RSI™
- Ransomware Susceptibility Index (RSI) is a proprietary index developed by Black Kite that helps companies and their third parties understand their susceptibility to a ransomware attack, based on thousands of ransomware victims.
- On a web page where Black Kite data, ratings, findings, intelligence, etc. is used, then the page must add the following:
- “Copyright 20xx Black Kite Intelligence (and its affiliates as applicable). All rights reserved. blackkite.com”
- When a “Ticket” is displayed, then it must be called a “Black Kite Ticket”
- A Black Kite Ticket is an assigned finding on a specific asset within the Black Kite platform that requires action from a third party to be resolved, either through patching their own systems or responding to the ticket within the Black Kite Bridge™
These Black Kite Trademark & Attribution Guidelines are subject to change in Black Kite’s sole discretion, whether based on business and product feature changes or otherwise.
